We are the 412 Power Crew
We are a FIRST LEGO League team from Southwestern Pennsylvania, dedicated to STEM, innovation, and teamwork. Each season, we tackle real-world challenges through four key areas: the Innovation Project, where we develop creative solutions; Core Values, which emphasize teamwork and inclusion; Robot Design, where we engineer and program our LEGO robot; and the Robot Games, where we put our robot to the test in exciting missions. Through problem-solving and collaboration, we strive to inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators!

Submerged Season
During the 2024-2025 FIRST® LEGO® League SUBMERGED season, teams will explored life beneath the surface of the ocean. Along the way, teams will uncovered the potential to strengthen our community and innovate for a better world with healthy oceans.
The 2024-2025 season has been a very strong one for the 412 Power Crew as we qualified for Worlds in Houston Texas. This is an amazing honor that will continue to challenge us and push us to be our best. Check out our journey to Worlds here!
Below is a quick recap of what we have done so far this season regarding the 4 key components of the competition: Innovation Project, Core Values, Robot Design, and the Robot Games.
Innovation Project

- Consulted experts and found out that sea urchins are devastating kelp forests, the home and food of lots of sea life.
- Integrated an existing machine learning tool into a Raspberry Pi and built a robot that identifies and “collects” the sea urchins.
- Created a video with instructions for other children to use machine learning computer vision in their Raspberry Pi projects.
- Submitted a patent for an Al-assisted robotic device with computer vision and GPS tracking for detection, spatial mapping, and manipulation of objects in water bodies.
Core Values

- Hosted a 3-week coding course for 3rd-5th graders
at the Sewickley library - Meeting with PA State Representative Arvind Venkat to raise awareness of our robotics team
- Sent letters to PA State Representatives to stress the importance of state funding to cover after school robotics programs
- Center of Life STEM Demonstrations
- Held multiple Braille Lego Block Demonstrations
- After school STEM Demonstration at Franklin Elementary School in the North Allegheny School District
- STEM Demonstration at the FLL Junior Explorers event at Haine Elementary School in the Seneca Valley School District
Robot Design

- We redesigned the robot and its attachments mid-season to create an efficient robot to complete all missions for 510 points!
- We used our innovative Color Coded System to save time during matches and avoid operator error
- We learned how to correct the robot’s path even if something fails using the Gyro repositioning technique
Robot Games

- Placed 2nd at SW PA Competition
- Placed 5th at PA State Competition
- Worlds result coming soon!!
